First Form: Dark Moon, Evening Palace ( 壱 ( いち ) ノ 型 ( かた ) 闇 ( やみ ) 月 ( づき ) ・ 宵 ( よい ) の 宮 ( みや ), Ichi no kata: Yamidzuki - Yoi no Miya ?) - Kokushibo quickly draws his sword and slashes swiftly in a singular horizontal motion in a crescent shape, creating numerous chaotic crescent blades.Furthermore, several techniques were performed with Kokushibo's longer sword. Note: Due to Kokushibo's Blood Demon Art, it is unknown how a human swordsman will perform these techniques. When he became a demon, he improved this Breathing Style using his Blood Demon Art, which he used to create dozens of tangible crescent moons from his sword, each of them as sharp as blades, making this Breathing Style one of, if not the, most powerful and deadly ones showcased thus far.Īs Kokushibo lived for centuries continuously improving his swordsmanship through his Moon Breathing Breathing Style, eventually developing 16 different techniques at least by the time of the Infinity Castle Arc. This Breathing Style is only used by Upper Rank One, Kokushibo, who was one of the first Demon Slayers who utilized Total Concentration Breathing. When its creator, Michikatsu Tsugikuni, attempted to learn Sun Breathing from his twin brother, Yoriichi Tsugikuni, he discovered he was unable to master it and so was instead trained in an alternate Breathing Style which later became Moon Breathing. It has been revealed that, like all of the other original Breathing Styles, the Moon Breathing also branched out of the Sun Breathing.
Most, if not all, known techniques and forms are standard yet varied swordsmanship techniques that focus on swift and powerful strikes that always follow the shape and pattern of a crescent moon.
Moon Breathing is a Breathing Style that mimics the moon and replicates it with the user's movements, techniques and abilities.
